Terms & Conditions
This agreement explains how Dublin Publishing Press operates, the responsibilities shared between us and our clients, and the conditions that apply whenever you engage our website or services.
General Information
Dublin Publishing Press welcomes you. This page describes the conditions under which our website and services may be used. Once you browse the site, submit an enquiry, request pricing, send a payment, or engage any of our services, these conditions become binding on you.
Dublin Publishing Press works alongside writers and businesses across a range of publishing needs, covering manuscript editing, ghostwriting, illustration, layout, promotional strategy, and print or digital distribution.
Use of Our Website
- Our website must only be used for lawful purposes. Interfering with its operation, attempting to extract data, bypassing security measures, or accessing restricted areas without permission is not permitted.
- Content you submit through contact forms, chat windows, email threads, or file uploads must never be deceptive, offensive, unlawful, or infringe on someone else's rights.
- Nothing published on our site forms a binding client relationship on its own. That relationship only begins once a quote, invoice, or signed project brief has been exchanged.
Our Services
Depending on your project, we may provide manuscript assessment, line editing, proofreading, typesetting, cover artwork, ISBN registration, retailer account setup, promotional campaigns, brand development, and print or online distribution.
What's actually included for your book, along with schedules, allowed revisions, and pricing, gets documented separately through a signed proposal, invoice, order confirmation, or written contract.
Project Scope, Quotes, and Deliverables
- Work on your book officially starts once the agreed scope is set and the deposit has cleared, unless we've separately arranged different terms in writing.
- Requests that fall outside the original brief may lead to updated pricing, a new fee, or a shifted completion date.
- What you receive depends on your package, and might include a proofed manuscript, cover artwork, interior layout files, retailer-ready formats, promotional assets, or strategy documents.
- Since we depend on the materials, responses, and sign-offs you send us, any delay on your end can push back our production schedule.
Client Responsibilities
- Details you give us, whether contact information, billing records, or manuscript files, need to be correct and current.
- Any wording, imagery, quotations, credentials, or third-party material included in your submission must be something you're legally entitled to use.
- Submitting a file to us means you're confirming you hold the rights needed to publish it.
- We recommend maintaining your own separate copies of every manuscript, graphic, and document connected to your project.
- Before signing off on any proof or draft, check it thoroughly: names, figures, pricing, formatting, contact details, and the final files headed for publication.
Author Rights and Manuscript Ownership
Copyright in your manuscript stays with you, unless a distinct written contract states something different.
When you share files with us, you're giving Dublin Publishing Press permission, limited to what's necessary, to edit, reformat, design, reproduce, and store that content strictly for completing your project.
Helping you edit, design, print, promote, or distribute your book doesn't give us any ownership stake in it. Should rights ever need transferring, that would require its own separate written agreement.
Website Intellectual Property
Everything visible on our site, wording, imagery, layout choices, logos, and descriptive content, belongs to Dublin Publishing Press or to parties who've licensed it to us, unless we note otherwise.
Reproducing, reselling, or redistributing material from our website isn't allowed without our written consent, aside from the ordinary viewing that happens when you visit the pages.
Revisions, Approvals, and Timelines
- How many rounds of changes you get depends entirely on what's stated in your quote, package, or written project confirmation.
- Going beyond that allowance, requesting a different creative direction, or adding new requirements partway through may come with additional charges.
- Approval you give on a manuscript, cover, layout, or proof locks that stage in as finished, and further changes may not be included.
- Timelines we quote are approximate estimates, not guaranteed dates, unless we've confirmed a fixed deadline in writing.
- We can't be held responsible for hold-ups stemming from slow feedback, incomplete files, retailer review periods, unpaid invoices, or other events beyond our reasonable control.
Third-Party Platforms and Publishing Rules
Getting your book published and distributed often means working through outside platforms; think Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Barnes & Noble Press, payment gateways, bookstores, print vendors, or ad networks.
None of these platforms are run by us, so they set their own approval standards, review timelines, technical specs, pricing structures, royalty splits, and account terms.
- There's no way for us to promise a retailer will approve, list, feature, or keep distributing your title indefinitely.
- Sales figures, chart placement, algorithm visibility, press attention, and campaign performance aren't things we can promise in advance.
- Making sure platform requirements are met, along with the accuracy of your author profile, tax forms, banking, pricing, genre category, copyright claim, and account details, falls on you.
Payments, Deposits, and Invoices
- Costs shift based on which service you're booking, how long your manuscript runs, its complexity, your deadline, and the state of the files provided.
- We generally need payment settled before starting any work, unless a written exception has been arranged.
- Bigger projects are often split into deposits, instalments, or milestone-based payments.
- Any transaction fees, currency exchange costs, applicable taxes, or platform charges are your responsibility unless we've agreed otherwise.
- Late or missed payments may result in your project being paused or stopped entirely until the balance is settled.
Refunds and Cancellations
Given the amount of skilled labour, custom planning, and creative effort that goes into our work, refunds typically aren't available once a project is already underway.
- Cancelling ahead of any work starting may qualify you for a refund, minus whatever processing or admin costs we've already incurred.
- Once work is underway, we'll decide on any refund, full or partial, by weighing the progress made, hours logged, costs paid out, and files already handed over.
- Where we fall short of a commitment through our own fault, we might fix the issue, offer a substitute service, or issue a refund, partial or complete, depending on what happened.
- Cancellations need to be submitted in writing, sent to us by email.
Marketing and Results Disclaimer
Our promotional work focuses on strengthening your book's presence, polish, and readiness for launch. What follows depends on many variables outside our control, category trends, reader interest, pricing, reviews, your existing following, competing titles, platform visibility, ad budget, and overall market conditions.
We can't promise revenue, ranking positions, review counts, press coverage, retail placement, literary awards, or any particular business result.
Confidentiality
Unpublished manuscripts, concept notes, project documents, and private correspondence with clients are kept confidential on our end. Access is limited to team members, contractors, or platforms directly involved in delivering your project.
If your project needs extra confidentiality precautions, flag that with us in writing before handing over anything sensitive.
Privacy and Data Protection
Personal data you share with us is managed according to our separate Privacy Policy. We'd encourage reading that document for details on how information is gathered, stored, used, and safeguarded.
Limitation of Liability
As far as the law allows, Dublin Publishing Press won't be held liable for indirect, secondary, punitive, or financial losses. This covers lost earnings, lost sales, corrupted or missing data, reputational harm, account suspensions, lost business chances, or operational disruption.
Should a claim arise, whatever we owe is capped at what you actually paid for the specific service in question, unless the law prevents such a cap.
Where a legal restriction prevents us from limiting liability, these terms won't attempt to override that restriction.
Indemnity
You agree to protect and compensate Dublin Publishing Press, along with its leadership, staff, contractors, representatives, and partner companies, against any claims, damages, obligations, or costs that result from content you supply, violations of this agreement on your part, infringement of others' rights, or misuse of what we offer.
Suspension or Termination
- There are several reasons we might halt or end services altogether: missed payments, unlawful or rights-infringing content, mistreatment of our team or platforms, violations of this agreement, or requests to perform work we consider dishonest, unethical, or against the law.
- Ending your project on your end requires written notice to us, though amounts already paid typically remain non-refundable once work or expenses are underway.
- Certain obligations survive termination regardless; this includes anything related to outstanding payments, confidentiality commitments, intellectual property matters, liability caps, and indemnification.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
Irish law governs this agreement in full. Should any disagreement arise connected to these terms, our website, or the services we provide, Irish courts will have jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law dictates a different outcome.
Changes to These Terms
This agreement may be revised periodically to reflect operational or legal developments. Whenever changes are made, the updated version appears here along with a new date. Continuing to use our site or services afterward signals your acceptance of the revised terms.
